@@UnboxFlix I opened a Salvage, Surplus & Thrift store about 15 years ago, where we sold books by the pound, misc household goods by the crate, and clothes by the bag. We diverted materials from industrial dumpsters, thrift shop dumpsters, estate leftovers, garage sale leftovers, etc. After awhile, we'd have a twice a year "Free Market" in a nearby parking lot...That got rid of 90% of our leftovers, which otherwise would have hit landfill in any other scenario. Also, 80% of our inventory was "diverted from landfill" materials in the first place.

@@UnboxFlix Unfortuantely 4 things came together than shut us down.....City bureaucracy that basically gave me completely incorrect information (which I had used to choose the location), a landlord who was refusing to fix a black mold issue (that they were repsonsible to fix) that developed in the spring in the basement, and a defective telephone switch in their telephone company's system that resulted in us only receiving 25% of our phone calls. These issues caused a domino effect of disasters and issues. Was pretty disheartening and made me not want to do the business in the city of WInnipeg (Manitoba) again, though I did continue to try it in a significantly smaller location for a couple years, but just didn't work properly due to space constraints.

Great points, it just shocking and disheartening that they don’t put it out for free or donate to other charities.

@@UnboxFlix They price items with a certain color price tag, after a few days it goes on sale for 30% off, then 50%, then $2. Then it goes to the Goodwill outlet for $1.89 per pound, ( limit of $6 for items over 3 pounds). After that, I'm sure the would gladly donate it, rather than pay to take it to the dump. How much do you pay to dump contracting waste?
